In those vital first 7 seconds of any prospecting call, the prospect will have made a decision on you. Whether they like you, trust you or have any interest in what you are going on to say. It's strange because you can't say much in 7 seconds.
Of course they are not making a decision on the content of the call but the rapport you immediately create. In doing so they are listening to the quality of your voice and simply 'tuning in'. Very shortly after that they will be listening for an association (has this got anything to do with me?) and then a benefit (is there anything in it for me?)
In 7 seconds they will pick up on the mood of the conversation. We all do it. Remember when you were a child; you instinctively knew when you were in trouble from your parents from the delivery of the message.
82% of communication by telephone is down to the quality of delivery, so remember to look at the bigger 'PICTURE'
