I am lucky enough to have just returned from a fabulously relaxing 3-week holiday under sunny Mediterranean skies. One of the benefits of both my kids flying the nest is taking breaks out of season. Not only is the midday sun pleasant as opppsed to scorching, it’s quiet and the locals have time to talk to you.
Anyway, on my return home I was struck by how much stuff I have! I’d holidayed quite happily with just the contents of a small suitcase and now suddenly it feels as if I am drowning in things – paperwork, clothes, mementoes, enough mugs to serve tea to an army, things that someday might come in handy....how much
bubble wrap do you need, really?!
So I have promised myself a thorough de-clutter. Being away from home has allowed me to come back and see it with fresh eyes, to see what works for me, and what is now superfluous.
Taking a break works on another level too: it provides psychological distance so you can reflect on your work and life and return with new insight and focus.
And that’s what we are all about at Sprout: creating productive and creative breathing spaces for busy professionals and teams.
