Written Information for New Starters
From today, there are changes to the written information you have to provide to new starters. Employees are legally entitled to receive written information about their terms of employment. This is usually provided in a “Statement of Main Terms of Employment” or a “Contract of Employment”.
Previously, the information had to be given to an employee within 8 weeks' of their start date. Now, employees are entitled to be provided with information in writing from day one. Also, the information is slightly different from the previous information you had to give your employees.
From today “workers” too are entitled to written information for the first time. Workers are individuals who provide their own services to you but are also free to provide their services to other businesses if they wish to do so.
This is a great opportunity to update your statement of terms of employment and create a new one for any workers you engage. Please call or email if I can help.
