Many people restrict themselves by believing they are unable to be successful. How many times have you heard (or you may have said yourself), I will never be able to do that and then have been proved right. It has been reported that Henry Ford once stated, “If you think you can or you think you can’t, then you are right”. What we believe about our abilities and ourselves will determine if we are to succeed or fail in pursuit of our desired outcome. Sometimes, all we need is a little help, learning a new skill is quite difficult if there is no qualified tutor to help or guide us. When we have held a negative, irrational belief about our abilities and ourselves for many years, it becomes an integral part of our make-up and we need somebody to help us to become a more positive and determined person. The first thing we have to do is to admit we need help and talk to somebody who can help us. We can all overcome negative irrational beliefs by using our own positive resources; positive resources that have been buried sometimes for many years while our negative beliefs have been reinforced by our irrational belief system. We can all achieve our desired goal, if we want to, by believing we can do it and learning how to remove negative demands from our make up and take control of our lives once again. Some psychological disturbances begin in childhood when we programme ourselves with all the negative beliefs that affect us as we grow.
