As a developer its hard to explain to a client what SEO 'is all about' I myself admit I dont know the 'field' fully but I do know the principles of creating an optimised site, the problem I have is the backlink part? I just do not have the time or knowledge probably for that matter to find the sites that will be good to get a link back from, I guess from my point of view its a matter of time and also the learning curve of realising I've actually picked the right site. This is where I think SEO companies become more attrative to small firms etc (like mine for example) as we just dont have the resources to source out the sites that will serve us the best. This raises a problem I find in which SEO company to use, as a deveoper I am aware of the scams and blaggers etc just because of my learning experiance, but its hard relating that to a client, does anyone have any pointers on how to recoginse potential 'link backers', where to find them (the panecea...), and how to approach a website with a view to a link back/to, and theres also the question of trackbacks?
