Say Yahoo! To BrowserPlus (TM)

Yahoo! has released BrowserPlus, "a technology for web browsers that allows developers to create rich web applications with desktop capabilities." The release is fairly in time with Microsoft's own browser based technology: Silverlight, that promises the same and is built upon the new vista graphics foundation. This all contributes to the one-page web ideal, or at least compliments it, allowing desktop like activities and actions to be performed within the browser, without having to traverse from page to page. ...back to BrowserPlus. An interesting feature of BrowserPlus is the ability to add new "services" on the fly, these can then be used in your own BrowserPlus applications. An interesting service is the text-to-speech, check it out here : http://browserplus.yahoo.com/services/ Theses technologies still have a lot to do to catch up to the likes of Adobe Flash/Flex, more so with the recent announcement of Adobe Open Sourcing their Flex SDK... and it looks like Microsoft are following suit by releasing "part" of the source code for Silverlight. Install and play here : http://browserplus.yahoo.com/
