The Childcare Act 2016 (Commencement No 2) Regulations 2017 (SI 2017/785) extends the free childcare scheme effective from 1st September 2017, to 30 hours per week for parents of children aged three and four years old.

It will apply to families where both parents work (or the sole parent in a single parent family works), and each parent earns at least the weekly minimum income equivalent of 16 hours at the rate of the national minimum wage or national living wage and less than £100,000 per year.
