A clean, organised, office portrays a well-run, professional business. ‘A picture speaks a thousand words’ rings true when it comes to work space. If you were to take a picture of your office as it is now, does it give the impression of somewhere well-organised, or does it look messy and out of control? We are all guilty of judging a book by its cover so giving off a positive first impression can make a huge difference when it comes to attracting both customers and employees.

Here are some top tips to help make your office impressive at first sight...

1. Designated areas organise a workspace in a subtle way. Ensuring there are separate areas for different sorts of work not only helps the office workflow move a lot smoother, but it’s also very practical. Often different job titles require specific equipment so it’s easy to have it all in one space. It’s also good to have an area for lunch breaks and an area for internal meetings and client meetings.

2. What is worse than a tangled mess of wires? Why not neaten them up with clips to avoid the jumble or even hide them down the back of a table? As long as they can’t be seen!

3. Certifications and awards on the walls show a qualified and experienced company with a hard working group of people.

4. Personal touches are comforting for clients, it gives them an insight into who you are. This helps build a connection with clients and encourages them to trust you, making them feel like they can rely on you with their business etc. Try adding plants, quirky furniture, photos and wall art. Plants make an office look and feel refreshing, they brighten up the room and add character to your work area.

5. Adding a statement sofa to a reception area or having a brightly coloured feature wall shows business confidence from the get go. Whether it’s a bold pattern, for example, a or a bright yellow wall, it’s sure to grab your visitor's’ attention and give off a positive impression.

6. Having white walls or white furniture can make a room look larger and brighter. Your employees will be much happier working in a fresh, open-plan office than feeling like they’re squashed in a small, stuffy room.

7. A desk organiser always makes work spaces look tidy, it allows you to display the necessary objects - a pen, notepad, glasses etc. on your desktop. It makes it easier to find everything you need, too, whilst looking neat and tidy.
