Case Study: David Hibbitt Community Int Ltd

Surrounding Background

The David Hibbitt foundation Community Ltd (known as DHFC in this case study) is a limited UK charitable organisation specialising in alternative medicine for cancer treatments.
In May 2016 Darren from DHFC came to 08UK to enquire about getting some new virtual 03 numbers so their charity could route their inbound calls to several different mobile destinations rather than to any physical fixed lines. We provided the new virtual 03 numbers as required placing them on the most suitable platform solution. Not all network providers platforms offer simple commercials surrounding routing to mobile destinations, our experience means we know the issues and so the best major tier1 path.

Specific Details Charges/Costs

08UK provided the numbers without any set up nor ongoing rentals per number. Routing the 0300 service numbers on to various mobile destination through the chosen 08UK platform solution is a chargeable service per minute, which is charged on a per second basis.

What do callers pay to phone 0300 numbers?

Calling 0300 from a UK mobile or landline is charged at between 1-8p/minute (national rate) to the customer. No additional access charges apply in addition to that rate. As 0300 calls are included in bundle minute packages on mobile tariffs, many see 01 or 02 or 03 calls as seen by the user as being free – when called from their mobile. The only number free to call from a UK mobile is a 0800 or 0808 now following Ofcom change 1st July 2015, which finally stopped the 080 mobile rip off which started in 1985 when Vodafone starting charging standard network rate.

Overall Outcome

DHFC’s new 0300 numbers presented on all advertising (website and literature) removes any potential negative perception associated with phoning either mobile phone numbers direct or multiple landline numbers trying to speak with the correct person. The amount of calls received has increased significantly as a result of introducing the new mobile friendly 030 number range. 08UK by providing DHFC with the right commercials has helped the charity move in the right direction to achieve the goal of streamlining the inbound communications and securing numbers that can stay with the organisation for life.
