Change...you're Welcome!

Change...you're Welcome!

Recently we have heard David Cameron and his government speaking about the need for a "Big Society," where local people would take more of an active role in the affairs of their community. Whether we agree with his methods or not, the notion of encouraging people to step up, embrace the change and take ownership can only be a good thing. The current situation we are now facing in this country reminds me a little of the story, "Who Moved my Cheese?" by Dr Spencer Johnson. For those of you who are unfamiliar with it, there are four characters - two mice and two humans. They all live in a maze, and every day they go to their usual place to collect their supply of cheese. One day, however, the cheese runs out. The two humans and one mouse sit and complain about the situation, but the other mouse learns to deal with this change successfully, and writes what he has learned on the maze walls. Are you in a situation where you are "running out of cheese?" Where can you go or what can you do to look for "new cheese?" Are there any people who could help you, who you might not have previously approached? If you are blessed with a good supply of "cheese" at the moment, then think about the steps you might take if it were to run out. Change in business, and in life, is inevitable. The true winners are the ones who are able to deal with it successfully. www.themanchestercoachingacademy.com
