On the 4th December 2014 we were named Best Accountancy firm at the Talk of Manchester awards.
As we put on our tuxes and fumbled with bow ties in our modest (small) office in Peter House on Oxford Street, we had no idea that the night would end with one of our Directors punting our first award across the floor of an after party on the 12th Floor of the prestigious Manchester House. Not bad for a company that only began trading in 2013.
What is the Talk of Manchester?
Launched in April 2012, The Talk of Manchester, or TOMs, is the brainchild of Paul Kilroe. A mixture of paid for and free events consisting of networking opportunities, educational talks and award ceremonies, the TOMs exists to bring together businesses in Manchester to support growth.
Isn’t it ironic
It’s ironic that the first award we would win as a firm, would be the Talk of Manchester. Especially when we were probably the least talked about firm on the list. Rather than launching with a bang, we built a quiet reputation based on honesty, hard work approachability.
Ansar Mahmood, our founding Director, created Pomegranate Consulting with one goal. To be more than your average accountancy firm. Suits you never see past the first appointment, stuffy offices that generate a mixture of fear and anxiety on every visit, letters filled with jargon that needed a mathematician to decipher.
The aim was simple, a modern accountant that felt like a business advisor. No jargon, no call centres. Just clear, practical advice with a personal touch.
So what have we done since winning?
We’ve doubled in size, moved to a bigger office in The Lexicon, opened a sister firm dedicated to finance – Pomegranate Finance – and joined Manchester Business Radio to give accountancy advice to local businesses.
All of which has seen us received two nominations at this years TOMs. The first being for Pomegranate Finance in the Best Finance Company category and the other for Pomegranate Consulting in the Best Accountancy firm. Whether we win or lose, we will continually strive to be better. By constantly improving we give new and existing clients more value.
