Public Health England have reccomended that office workers ( sedentary workers) should spend a minimum of two ( but ideally) 4 hours per day on their feet everyday. As an Occupaitonal Health nurse, I cannot say that I practice what I preach as I am often tied to a desk and to a computer seeing clients all day. So how can this be achieved? Do we move workers futher away from toilets or canteens to facilitate their ability to walk as part of their normal day? Or are sit / stand desks the answer? Maybe we need to encourage "standing breaks", a no chair rest room?
