The Government’s Response to the consultation relating to “Deferred Prosecution Agreements” (“DPAs”) was published yesterday. The Government received 75 responses to the Consultation, including a response from Russell Jones & Walker (part of Slater & Gordon Lawyers). There was strong support for the proposals with 86% of respondents agreeing that DPAs have the potential to improve the way that economic crime committed by organisations is dealt with. The Government is now intending to bring forward legislation to introduction DPAs in England and Wales in the Crime and Courts Bill which is currently making its way through Parliament.
