Don't turn your interview into a horror story!

Don't turn your interview into a horror…

With over 50 years of experience between us we know a thing or two about recruitment. Simply ‘matching’ a CV to a job description is not good enough… which is how many recruitment agencies work –the sling enough mud at the wall and some of it will stick premise.

 We don’t work like this.

Our aim is to place the right people with the right people. And this is far more difficult but absolutely essential if the new appointment is to be a success.

So considering the amount of time and effort we put into finding the ideal recruit, it’s extremely frustrating to get negative feedback from our candidates following their interview with prospective employers. And we hear horror stories far too frequently!

“She just sat there rolling her eyes while I was speaking.”

“He took a phone call when I was mid sentence.”

“They left the room to talk to a colleague after asking me a question.”

“I sat there for over an hour just waiting for them to finish their meeting.”

So why don’t some companies realise that creating a good impression is a two-way street? Do they think that they’re doing the candidate a favour just by inviting them in for an interview?

Well our view is that it’s just as important for the interviewer to put their best foot forward it is for the interviewee. The person sat in front of you could solve your vacancy headache and add considerable value to your business.

And don’t forget that they are there to ‘interview’ you too, to see if you are a good fit for what they are looking for.

As an employer you need to make a good first impression as well if you are to secure the best candidates for your business. And if you’re still wondering why this is important, just think about the power of social media nowadays. What do you want people to be saying about your business?

So it makes sense to make sure that the appropriate people in your business are trained and have the right skills to represent your business.
