Watching young minds open to accept and appreciate new ideas, new ways of thinking and ultimately new skills, is a joy. When you are part of the team helping those minds to grow it’s even more satisfying.
The National Citizens Scheme (NCS) is open to all 16 and 17 year olds in England and helps them to build their skills for work and life, while taking on new challenges and meeting new friends. One of their challenges on the scheme is to work with their new colleagues to design and deliver a social action scheme which, when they’re doing their NCS with Warrington Youth Club, involves pitching their idea to a Dragon’s Den style board from the youth club.
For the last few years I have been supporting the young people by giving them some insights into how best to present their ideas to the board… and how they might use those new found skills throughout their lives.
Have other MP members ideas that might be beneficial to these young people within the constraints of the NCS programme ... and maybe the time to present those ideas to them during their week long course in Warrington?
