Gained a wide range of professional and management experience with large accountancy practices in London, Central Africa and Canada.
Made a deliberate move into commerce to capitalise on the regulatory experience and professional connections gained while working for a professional body. Concentrated on business development in the Financial Services Sector for 5 years and then established a boutique management consultancy for regulated Financial Services firms.
Elected to the Manchester Society of Chartered Accountants Committee in 1997. The primary focus was on the Society’s relationship with governmental business support agencies and the Universities. Became President of the Society for 2012/13.
At a national level, was a Council Member of the ICAEW between 2001 and 2013. Key achievements were the development of Faculties leading to the formation of the Financial Services Faculty (becoming founding Deputy Chairman) and in the final two years on Council instigating and chairing a Governance Review of the ICAEW.
