Michael qualified as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and Chartered Builder whilst working for 14 years for a number of contractors including Fairclough Civil Engineering, Sir Alfred McAlpine, Henry Boot Construction and Briggs Amasco (part of the Tarmac Group) on a variety of building and civil engineering projects across the North of England.
In 1987 he moved into loss adjusting where he additionally qualified as a Chartered Insurance Practitioner, Chartered Loss Adjuster and European Loss Adjusting Expert whilst remaining involved with building and civil engineering through the medium of insurance claims.
Whilst employed by Cunningham Lindsey, he became a founder member of Cunningham Lindsey Mediation Services, established in January 2008, eventually becoming Head of Mediation Services.
In May 2011, he established Michael Dawson Limited as a multi-disciplinary consultancy undertaking commercial mediations together with loss adjusting and quantity surveying functions focussed on dispute resolution. Actively involved in negotiation, contractual disputes and claims for over 40 years, Michael has a quiet but confident manner in mediations and is able to relate to people at all levels. He is a firm believer in the use of mediation to resolve all manner of disputes. He is a volunteer community mediator with Smile Mediation in Burnley, where he was also a Director until May 2012, when he established Green Doors Mediation C.I.C. as a community mediation provider in the Greater Manchester area.
Based in North West England, Michael is prepared to travel anywhere in the UK and EU to mediate any disputes where his construction, insurance and general commercial skills and knowledge may be of use.
