Your data says it all

One of the most rewarding aspects of analysing data and creating insights is seeing people's reactions when they first interact with their new dashboard. Recently, I had an experience that reminded me why I love what I do, and I wanted to share it with you.

I built a sales dashboard for a UK-based online retailer using Tableau Cloud, connected to a Google BigQuery dataset I had designed specifically for them. The primary goal was to help the company quickly identify how many customers were purchasing their products for resale within a given time frame, alongside actionable insights for forecasting future revenue. Demonstrating the dashboard—showing them how they could explore the data by slicing it by time periods, customer segments, devices, and even predicting future revenue—was wonderful.

But I didn’t stop there. I put myself in their shoes and thought, What else would they want to know? I pushed the analysis further, uncovering their worst-performing reselling customer who had stockpiled a significant amount of purchased inventory. This discovery opened the door to new strategic actions they hadn’t previously considered.

I don’t just hand over a dashboard and say, “Here you go.” I take the time to walk clients through it, helping them uncover insights in real time. With this client, we explored the dashboard together—asking and answering questions like, “Why is this happening?” and “What can we do about that?” We dug into every story the data could tell, and the experience was incredibly rewarding. The client loved it, and so did I.

This is why I’m passionate about what I do. I love creating insights that not only answer the initial questions but also reveal the ones you never thought to ask. Seeing a client empowered to make decisions with a few clicks, knowing the profound impact that insight can have—that’s what keeps me going.

I’d love to hear about your data stories. Share your insights with me—let’s inspire each other! #Data #Insights #Tableau #DataAnalysis
