New Fire Safety Advice for Care Home

New fire safety advice has been issued by the Chief Fire & Rescue Service Advisor in relation to the use of self closing devices on bedroom fire doors in residential Care Homes. The advice has been issued following a tragic fire in a Care Home in Lanarkshire in which 14 residents died. Care Home providers should review their fire risk assessments and management procedures in light of this determination and new advice regarding the use of self closing units on bedroom fire doors to ensure they are fully compliant with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
