Online video - the way to get noticed

YouTube gets four BILLION hits worldwide every day. Four BILLION. And yes, okay, a good proportion of those might be to watch that funny animal clip or the latest music video. But an increaing number of businesses are waking up to the fact that having online video content is a key way to get noticed and get ahead. I don't want to drown you in an avalanche of figures, but the numbers do make interesting reading. In the UK alone, 84% of the population are regular internet users - that's around 52.7 million people.Think how many of them go online, not only for entertainment, but to find a business. If you haven't got online video content on your company website you can bet that your competitors will have. People expect it nowadays. In the USA, 75% of business executives questioned watched work-related videos on business websites at LEAST once a week. With a corporate video on your website you can get a lot of content into a short space of time and it is far more accessible and interesting to a potential client than reams and reams of the printed word. It's an ideal oppportunity for you to brand your company, and with online video you can project the personality and profile of your buisiness far more successfully to the outside world, than by relying on the written word and still photographs. For example, we all know how important that personal touch is in business. With online video you can use your personality and that of your company to great effect. I mentioned YouTube. You can post your video there, and with social media playing such a huge role in modern life, you can post the link to it on Facebook, and Twitter. If you a have a company reception you can have the video playing there, so it is the first thing customers and potential customers see. Some experts believe that within a few years the traditional linear audience watching material on television will be superceded by the number of people accessing video online. It is the future. It is the way to get ahead. Don't get left behind. (Andy Johnson worked as a presenter in network and regional television for the BBC for 17 years. His website is andyjohnson.tv.
