Trainee Solicitor Charlotte Brinsley of Russell Jones & Walker, part of Slater & Gordon Lawyers (RJWSG), Manchester has been appointed to be the new Chair of the Manchester Trainee Solicitors Group (MTSG). Charlotte’s interest in organising events and fundraisers in the legal community started whilst she was a legal advisor with RJW’s contact centre. During her two years at the firm she has organised various events for our national charity Barnardos including co-ordinating Manchester’s victory over London in Store Wars, poppy appeal initiative involving members of our firm selling poppies on Market Street in Manchester and more recently working with our own trainees as the National Rep and arranging training for them with independent organisations and Christmas socials. This passion for trainees then extended to the Manchester Legal world and in 2011 she was elected onto the Manchester Trainee Solicitors Committee as FELT (Firms with Eight of Less Trainees) rep looking after the interests of the 200 trainees and paralegals in small and medium firms across Manchester. She organised various educational events with inspirational speakers across Manchester from the Law Society and other firms, and also organised networking events such as cupcake decorating, cocktail master class, and various socials. After a successful year, Charlotte felt she could still do more during her term as a trainee with RJWSG and has just been elected as Chair of MTSG after going head to head with a trainee from nearby firm, George Davies. Charlotte is now responsible for the 500 members of the MTSG in guiding them through the start of their professional life in Manchester. She will chair the 21 person committee in co-ordinating the various networking, sporting Christmas & Summer balls and educational events. As probably one of the most high profile trainees now in Manchester she will take a seat in the Manchester Law Society monthly meetings and have the opportunity to involve herself in policy and lobbying organisations and work with bodies to promote Manchester. Charlotte said: “It is the ethos of RJWSG and what they stand for in helping individuals that has encouraged me to really make a difference and provide opportunities for the trainees in Manchester.” This is an amazing achievement for Charlotte and after working her socks off to get there by organising and overseeing all manner of fundraising and social events, she deserves to be in the hot seat. Russell Jones & Walker, part of Slater & Gordon Lawyers are proud to have her with us.
