The Gut Feeling
Do you really need a Private Investigator to carry out a Matrimonial Investigation? You’ve got that gut feeling, the one which turns your stomach upside down. Believing you have a cheating partner can be incredibly distressing, and getting proof is often not easy.
But the signs are there, noticing just one or two of the signs on the list may not mean a partner is necessarily guilty, as all relationships go through change – but if you have three or four, you know you have a problem. But what are the signs of a cheating partner?
One of the most important signs, one that you should not ignore, is intuition, as people can typically always tell when a significant other is not being 100% truthful. Even if a partner isn’t displaying any of the typical signs, your feelings may be picking up on something.
Here are a few of the signs:
Leaving the house early and returning late
Holiday or family event absences
Secret accounts (Instagram, email)
Hidden credit card bills
Scent of someone else (typical lipstick on the collar)
Buying gifts you haven’t seen
Unexplained items – condoms in the car are a giveaway
Missed calls from an unknown number
Coded or secretive text messages
Evasiveness or defensiveness
Prickliness or short temper
Hate surprise visits (your unexpected arrival may come at an inopportune time for a cheater). Call in the Experts
The signs of a cheating partner are all the same, but catching someone is now as easy as picking up a phone or logging on to an iCloud account.
After seeing a significant other sneak away for a late night phone call or hide a text message, people are now “catching them themselves”.
However, do not panic in these situations or jump to conclusions, as it can jeopardise a valuable relationship over what may be unfounded anxieties.
If you do have an inkling that your significant other is cheating, looking for any one or four of the signs may part your mind at ease. Somebody that did turn to our Matrimonial Investigation experts was a lady we will call Lizzie. Lizze had suspected she had a cheating partner for many months but had been reluctant to do anything about it as she was expecting her fourth child with her husband.
Unbelievably, it wasn’t until the day of the birth of the baby, whilst she was still in hospital, that she learnt that her husband had packed his bags and left the marital home.
On the face of it, it was appalling behaviour by the husband, certainly behaviour that merited an explanation, but no explanation was forthcoming. The husband cut off all regular communication and only re-visited the marital home once a week in order to see his children.
The husband was not someone with a great deal of means behind him, someone must have been helping him out, at least with accommodation, but who? He was being evasive and would not tell Lizzie where he was staying, or why he had left her and his children, classic signs of a cheating partner. The Plan - Catching a Cheating Partner
Lizzie was desperate, she already had three young children and now with a new born baby she was dealing with the unexpected sudden break down of her marriage.
Lizzie called us to discuss her issue and ask for help with a Matrimonial Investigation. We were happy to offer our services to Lizzie, especially when we heard that her husband had acted so irresponsibly.
Lizzie told us that her husband usually arrived at her house uninvited, at about 5pm of a Friday night and spends around half an hour with the children before leaving. This was our window of opportunity to have a look at the husband for the first time.
Sure enough, bang on time, the husband arrived in his Vauxhall Zafira and parked directly outside of the house. We obtained good photographs of him and his car for future reference and possible surveillance.
After half an hour, the husband left the house alone, got back into his car and drove away, but this time we were following him. We followed him for about 20 miles across Lancashire, where he stopped at Tesco and picked up some wine and then continued his journey into Bolton.
He was seen to park his car on a car park, and walk across a street in a mid-terraced house, he did not knock or use a key.
Lizzie had informed us that her husband started work at about 7am every morning, and so the following morning we were back at the terraced house. We witnessed the husband the house and get into his car before driving to work.
At this point, we were still early in our matrimonial investigation, but as her cheating partner had stayed at the address overnight we had probably found his current address. But we did not know who the address belonged to.
Our investigators conducted a trace enquiry upon the address and located the current registered resident. The address was registered to a young female who will call Emily.
We continued to carry out surveillance of the husband, we watched him consistently entering the house after work, sometimes with a key, and leaving again early in the morning. It was clearly evident that her husband was staying at this address.
On the third morning, her husband left for work as expected, but he wasn’t alone. He was in company with a young female, and he was also carrying a baby in a baby car seat.
Could this be Emily? Does the baby belong to the husband? Is this the evidence we have been waiting for?
With a name, address, and date of birth for Emily we were able to make a sensible guess at where the baby had been born and registered. We made enquiries at the local Registry Office, and after showing our credentials and having a legitimate reason, the office provided us with a copy of the child’s birth certificate.
Emily was the mother, the birth certificate gave the same address. Shockingly, the birth certificate also gave the name of the father as Lizzie’s husband, who resided at the same address as Emily. Lizzie did in fact have a cheating partner.Informing Lizzie of her Cheating Husband
The evidence was clear, we had video and photographs of Lizzie’s cheating partner entering the address, and leaving with Emily and the baby. What’s more, the birth certificate was damning.
Lizzie, although distressed and upset, was thankful for the knowledge of what had happened. Her husband had left her whilst she was giving birth, for a younger female with a child only aged a few weeks old himself.
Lizzie contacted her solicitor the following week and presented the information we had gathered for her. She decided to seek a divorce on the grounds of infidelity.
We wish Lizzie, her young children and new baby well, and we hope that she can now be free from the pain of the gut feeling.
