Event Description

‘Bid and Tender Writing Training’ is for staff and decision makers of small businesses, one man bands and established companies who have very limited previous experience of bid writing and need to gain skills and knowledge of the bidding and tendering process. The one-day training session identifies the essential elements and skills that are necessary to construct and write competitive bids and tenders.

Event Summary
This workshop will be especially appropriate for those becoming responsible for designing projects are attracting funding from a range of sources including trusts, local authorities, regional or central government. Information exercises and group work enable delegates to explore essential skills and knowledge using supportive and accessible learning strategies. Brief Biography of the Host Tim Colman has been involved in tendering and the bid writing process for more than thirty years, and is widely acknowledged as a world leader in bid writing techniques. Tim started his tendering activities when selling power electronics into Japan and the Pacific Rim – a period which he describes as “character building”. However, he did have some successes and in overall terms has won around 80% of the bids he has written or managed. His activities cover public and private sector projects – both domestic and international. He is the procurement lead for the Federation of Small Businesses and as well as bid writing he presents bid writing seminars ranging from 30 minute “taster sessions” through to in depth courses lasting up to a week. What this one-day training will cover: Tim will concentrate on the “Ten Golden Rules of Bid Writing”. Tim follows these Golden Rules in every bid he prepares and they are equally relevant whether tendering for public or private sector projects. His presentation will briefly explain what a PQQ is all about as well as the types of tender. It would also focus on what it takes to be bid ready, where to look for tendering opportunities, what the buyer looks for in Public Sector Procurement, Presenting to the client among others.
